Date: April 24th 2008

After only 7 days, our hay seed has sprouted and has grown to an amazing height of 1" as of today. It looks pretty now to see the rows of 7" spaced seedlings marching from one end of the field to the other. Give it about 75 days and it will be ready to cut and bale.

I've heard from a few other growers that sell in the other farmers markets' and they were complaining about the 'reselling' that goes on where they sell. For the uninformed, 'reselling' is selling products that you don't produce. I tell you this to alert you to the problems inherent in a 'big' farmers market and to assure you that the practice of 'reselling' does NOT occur at the South Austin Farmers Market. Everything we sell has been verified to be grown by the person behind the table.

This Sat. I will be leaving at noon to get home and be in Houston by 4:30. We will have :eggs, tomatoes, burpless cucumbers, colored sweet bell peppers, squash, zucchini, asparagus, carrots, green onions, spinach, arugula, new potatoes, green peas, pecan tarts, fresh baked breads, canned goods, pestos, dried fruit, herb plants, eggplant, tomato and pepper plants, and fertilizer. AND I will have our dehydrated P2 tomatoes for sale - yummy!
